Surgery Hours

The surgery operates an appointment-only system for both doctors and nurses.
Doctors: 9am - 12.45pm and 2.30pm - 5.45pm
Nurses: 8am - 12.45pm and 2pm - 5.45pm

This is a group practice and patients should note that it may not always be possible to get an appointment with their doctor of choice, particularly if presenting with an acute problem.  In the main a patient will be seen by their own doctor for ongoing care but if this doctor is fully booked the patient will be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor.

All patient information is held on a confidential electronic file and each doctor in the practice will have access to this information.  Appointments can be made by phoning the surgery between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Surgeries are particularly busy so please be sure to keep your appointment time and cancel if you cannot make it.  Missed appointments waste precious GP or Nurse time and resources and block appointments for other people.  Patients who persistently miss scheduled appointments will be removed from the register.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor’s discretion and are normally for patients on long term treatment. The prescription will normally be given for a six month period if appropriate. Patients must return for review consultation prior to their repeat prescription being due for renewal. Please click here to use our online facility to order a prescription.

Patient Behaviour

We would respectfully ask that you treat our staff with courtesy and respect. Front office staff have a very demanding job. Please remember that they have many responsibilities. If you have a complaint about a member of staff please follow our complaints procedure as above. Aggressive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. It may result in removal from the practice register.

Forms

Patients require forms to be completed for many reasons, eg. insurance, housing etc. Please note that at all times clinical workload will take precedence over these and from time to time completion of these forms may be delayed due to clinical workload. Your patience is much appreciated. View all forms.

Complaints

We are happy to accept and consider comments and suggestions from our patients.  We would ask that these are made in writing.  We always try to provide the best services possible however there may be a time when a patient feels that this has not happened.  In this case please contact the surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Manager or write to the Practice Manager outlining your concerns.  Full details will be taken and a decision made on how best to deal with the complaint.  We believe it is important to deal with complaints swiftly and you will be kept informed as to the progress on any investigation that is deemed necessary.  If necessary you will be offered a meeting with a doctor and the practice manager in order to resolve any issue.  We will address your concerns, provide you with an explanation and discuss any action that may be needed.

Test Results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results. Please click here to complete a form to request results of blood tests. This will generate an email to one of nurses who will contact you once all your results are back.

It is the patient's responsibility to contact the surgery for their results.  Nurses can only give results of blood tests.  X-rays, scans etc must be given by your doctor.  If you do not hear from your doctor within 3 weeks of a scan please contact reception to make a return appointment to see your doctor.

We normally expect the results of blood tests to be available two weeks after the test is taken. Occasionally some tests can take longer than this. In order to ensure that we can always contact you, it is VERY IMPORTANT that we hold your current address and telephone numbers i.e. land and mobile. Please inform us at the earliest opportunity of any change of address or telephone numbers.

Data Protection

The Practice adheres to the General Data Protection Regulations which safeguards your right to privacy.  A copy of our Practice Privacy Statement and/or our Data Protection Policy are available on request.

And Finally…

As patients, you are responsible for your own health, and that of any dependents. It is important that you adhere to information and advice given to you by health professionals, and cooperate with the practice in order to maximise your care.
