You may qualify for a Medical Card or Doctor Visit card depending on your financial circumstances.

GP Visit Card
Applications for GP visit cards and medical cards are made through the same system. You will first be assessed for a medical card. If you don't qualify, you will then be assessed for a GP visit card.

Over 70s GP visit card
If you are over 70, you can register for an over 70s GP visit card.

Under 6s GP visit card
If you have a child under 6, you can register for an under 6s GP visit card. All children under the age of six are entitled to a GP visit card. This is not automatically allocated. You must apply for it as soon as possible after your child is born.

Carers GP visit card
If you get Carer’s Benefit or Carer’s Allowance, at full or half rate, you can visit your GP for free.
