We are one of the few GP Practices to introduce the procedure and our nurse, Claire is fully qualified in carrying out this simple and effective treatment. With few limitations, the use of a microscope and finely balanced medical suction device allows us to see directly into the ear canal. No liquids are introduced during microsuction, resulting in a pain-free and comfortable experience that is completed within minutes.

It means that people who are diagnosed with a specified longterm disease or disability can get a range of medicines from their community pharmacy free. You must first establish that you qualify for this scheme through the Health Service Executive (HSE). You do this by submitting the Long-Term Illness Application Form to your local HSE Community Health Organisation.

Blood pressure monitoring/ECG/Holter Monitor

It has been proven that ambulatory monitoring of the arterial pressure for 24 hours has a higher predictive value on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events. The data analysis of the 24 hours blood pressure monitoring also allows the night-time blood pressure profile to be observed. Therefore, taking into consideration any physiologic reduction of pressure values (dipping) or a physiologic raise of the arterial pressure in the morning (morning surge).

An ECG records the rhythm of your heart and can detect abnormal patterns which can help diagnose various heart conditions.  It can help tell if you are having a heart attack or if you have had one in the past. It can also detect irregularities in your heart rhythm. It can sometimes detect if your heart is enlarged or if there is any strain on your heart pumping.  An ECG is often the first heart test you will have; however, it is just a snapshot so you may need other tests too.

A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that keeps track of your heart rhythm. Your doctor may want you to wear a Holter monitor for one to two days. During that time, the device records all your heartbeats.  A Holter monitor test is usually performed after a traditional test to check your heart rhythm (electrocardiogram), especially if the electrocardiogram does not give your doctor enough information about your heart's condition.  Your doctor uses information captured on the Holter monitor to figure out if you have a heart rhythm problem.
